Extension and alterations to detached house, Lytham St Annes

This project involved extension and alteration of a traditional brick-built 1950’s detached home for a family who had recently bought the house but then found that the layout didn’t quite suit their needs.

Mellor Architects were commissioned to develop ideas to provide extra living space on the ground floor together with alterations to first floor and attic accommodation.

The brief also called for  suggestions to refresh and modernise the external appearance to the front and rear of the property and all of this to be on a very low budget.

The ground floor has been transformed by creating an open and light-filled interior which successfully  integrates new and existing accommodation.

Externally we took the opportunity to develop a low-cost solution which would work with the existing architectural features rather than one which would require more extensive and more costly work.

The project was featured in the ITV 1 lifestyle programme “May The Best House Win”.
