Barn conversions at Casterton, the Yorkshire Dales

The site in Casterton is located in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the first stage of the project involved successfully securing planning permission to convert the buildings into 11 individual dwellings and 9 apartments.

On this occasion, our client was a property developer with a long-standing relationship with Mellor Architects. They purchased the site from a private school, which included three separate buildings that had been used as boarding students’ sleeping accommodation.

The development is a three phase project, the first two of which are completed at time of writing and all the dwellings have been purchased.

The third and largest phase of the project is currently underway with multiple contractors on-site.

Overall project value is in the region of £3 million.
